Feelings of fear, uncertainty, and apprehension are only a few of the emotions involved when individuals are faced with the prospect of undergoing a surgical procedure. The professional staff of surgeons and anesthesiologists at PCH are trained to make your experience as comfortable and worry-free as possible.  

The Surgery Department at PCH offers both inpatient and outpatient services, as well as emergency surgical procedures, if the need should arise. The department encompasses General, Vascular, and Thoracic Surgery; Gynecologic / Obstetric Surgery; Orthopedic Surgery; and Ophthalmologic Surgery. 

Newly constructed in 2000, the PCH Surgery Department includes three state-of-the-art operating rooms and facilities for pre - and post - operative care. The department is equipped with high-tech instruments to support a wide spectrum of procedures in a comprehensive healthcare environment.

Through its medical division, Pike Medical & Surgical Associates, PCH offers only board certified primary care physicians and surgical specialists to meet the healthcare needs of its patients. For surgical services, the PCH staff includes two full-time, highly qualified surgeons in General Surgery and Orthopedic Surgery; and two courtesy staff surgeons who perform ophthalmologic and gynecologic procedures. Anesthesia support is provided by a full-time Board Certified Anesthesiologist and a full-time Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. 

Same Day Surgery

Many individuals come to the Hospital for a surgery which requires no overnight observation by a physician. They are free to leave the hospital the same day the procedure is performed. Same day surgical procedures are usually done between the hours of 8:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. Monday through Friday. When a patient comes to PCH for a same day surgery, they need to register in the main lobby at the Registration Desk. The individual will be asked to wait in the surgery waiting area until they are called in for their surgery by a representative of the surgery staff.
