Inpatient Services
No matter what may bring
you to PCH, the inpatient care areas are comprised of specialty units to
meet the needs for patients of all ages. Inpatient Services at PCH are
comprised of two major departments - the Medical-Surgical Unit and the
Intensive Care
Unit.
The Intensive Care Unit is dedicated to caring
for patients with critical illnesses or injuries who require continuous
monitoring and care. The Medical - Surgical Unit directly meets the needs
of less critical patients, whether they are recovering from an illness or
a surgery.
Medical-Surgical Unit (Med-Surg)
The Medical-Surgical floor is comprised of both private and
semi-private rooms equipped with modern electronic beds, which include
patient weighing and fall risk alert systems. Each room has private toilet
facilities and large storage space for the patient's personal
belongings. A central nurse station is staffed 24-hours a day by
qualified Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses, and Nurse
Assistants.
Intensive Care Unit (ICU)
The Intensive Care Unit houses four beds, all in private-room
environments that is both quiet and soothing for critically ill patients.
These rooms are also equipped with personal toilet facilities, as well as
electronic equipment for continued monitoring of the patient's physiology.
Family members of intensive care patients have access to the unit's
waiting area, and for those who wish to maintain a round the clock
presence, a family overnight room is available.
Visiting Hours
Regular visiting hours begin at Visiting hours begin at 8:00 a.m. and end at 8:00 p.m.
In ICU, the number of visitors and visiting times may be restricted,
depending on the condition of the patient. Please ask the nursing
supervisor in charge about any ICU visitor limitations. We request that
visiting by children be limited to ages 12 and older. In special
circumstances, younger children may be permitted to visit.
Food Services
PCH food services is provided by the Dietary Department. The Dietary
staff take care to interview each patient upon arrival to
determine food preferences and provide a wide variety of selections to
meet each individual dietary needs and restrictions. For visitors, the
PCH cafeteria is open from 11:30 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. daily for lunch time
hours, and again from 5:00 p.m. to 6:10 p.m. Monday through Friday for
dinner time hours. The PCH snack bar and gift shop is also conveniently
open from 9:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday, and serves an
assortment of beverages, candy, chips, pretzels, and sandwiches.
